HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Here's how:
Step 1. Initial Phone Consultation
Please call or email to set up a free phone consultation.
Step 2. Intake Meeting
The intake meeting can be scheduled during the phone consultation. During this meeting, families will have an opportunity to learn more about ABA therapy and to discuss initial questions and concerns. This is also an opportunity for the BCBA to gain a preliminary understanding of the client’s needs, goals, concerns, and special circumstances.
Step 3. Payment Overview: Private Pay and Health Insurance
Private Pay: ABA San Marcos LLC offers a very affordable rate for families who are paying out-of-pocket for therapy.
Health Insurance: In-network provider with: Magellan, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Cigna, and TRICARE. As an out-of-network provider, ABA San Marcos LLC is willing to work with all other insurance companies to provide services for clients. We will request benefit information on your family’s behalf and contact you promptly in order to discuss the information that your insurance company has provided.
Step 3. Enrollment Paperwork
Once the financial consultation is complete, enrollment paperwork will be emailed to the family. All paperwork will be completed and submitted electronically through our patient portal.
Step 4. Assessment
During the first clinical visit, the BCBA will collect baseline data. The assessment will take several hours as it will allow the BCBA to assess the current skill level of the client across multiple areas and thus to gain comprehensive knowledge about the client in order to select appropriate interventions and design an individualized treatment plan. Once the assessment is completed, the BCBA will review with the family the assessment outcomes, the treatment plan, and recommended service hours. The plan is finalized with the family and, if applicable, submitted to the health insurance carrier for authorization.
Assessments include:
Vineland-3: Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scales Third Edition, an individually-administered measure of adaptive behavior, is the leading instrument for supporting the diagnosis of intellectual and developmental disabilities. Vineland-3 provides valuable information for developing educational and treatment plans. Domains include communication, daily living skills, socialization, motor skills, and maladaptive behavior.
Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP): The VB-MAPP is an effective way to assess the learning, language, and social skills of children with autism or other developmental disabilities. Based on established developmental milestones and behavior analysis, the VB-MAPP is a criterion-referenced assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skill-tracking system. It provides a clear and accurate picture of the whole child, including the child's abilities, possible language and learning barriers, and the type of instructional model and educational setting that might best suit an individual child.
Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills - Revised (The ABLLS-R®): The ABLLS-R is an assessment tool, curriculum guide, and skills-tracking system used to help guide the instruction of language and critical learner skills for children with autism or other developmental disabilities. The ABLLS-R® provides a comprehensive review of 544 skills from 25 skill areas including language, social interaction, self-help, academic and motor skills that most typically developing children acquire prior to entering kindergarten. Expressive language skills are assessed based upon the behavioral analysis of language as presented by Dr. B.F. Skinner in his book, Verbal Behavior (1957). The assessment results allow parents and professionals to pinpoint obstacles that have been preventing a child from acquiring new skills and to develop a comprehensive language-based curriculum.
Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA): This assessment helps the BCBA determine the reason for a client’s specific challenging behavior and the factors that maintain the challenging behavior and allows him to develop a comprehensive intervention plan.
Preference Assessment: This assessment allows the BCBA to identify a client’s highly preferred items or activities so that they can be used to reinforce appropriate and desired behavior.
